Well, reader Sue took me to task in yesterday's post for not keeping everyone fully informed on what Change To Win is up to. I guess I should feel honored that you'all expect me to be the bearer of news. BUT, this blog was started precisely so that people could have a place to debate and bring news of their own, when relevant.
So, I asked Sue to post what she had read--here it is, in case you didn't get to see her comment (which was under a different topic). She started, nicely, by acknowleding that, "No one said informing the masses of labor news junkies was a cross you had to bear on your own..." I'll just say that I knew of the Vegas meeting referred to below but wasn't sure that there was much to say beyond "they are meeting in Vegas to discuss plans." And since I couldn't get out there myself...anyway, I've been scolded and will try to perform better :):) (my first smiley face on this blog).

LEADERS MEETING IN LAS VEGAS TARGET HOSPITAL CHAIN
By: KATHLEEN HENNESSEY -
Associated Press LAS VEGAS --Leaders of a new national labor coalition took aim at one of the largest U.S. hospital chains Friday, criticizing it for what they called anti-union practices and for using a "Wal-Mart business model." Members of the Change to Win Coalition, which includes four unions that broke away from AFL-CIO this summer, rallied outside Desert Springs hospital and accused its parent company, Universal Health Services Inc. of "heartlessly" putting patient in jeopardy by cutting staff. A Tin Man mingled with union workers to help make the point. ...

Who says nothing is happening, or that CTW, a.k.a. "The Gang That Couldn't Coup Straight," is a bit short on original ideas? Take a look at www.sinceslicedbread.com before it is yanked by Andy Stern; and also notice that there is no room for discussion or even straw voting concerning those ideas.

Jon, I share your feeling that the "since sliced bread" site is a little silly, but for the record there is room for discussion. If you create an account, you can post "reviews" on each idea that's posted.

Thanks, Ty. I'll check that option out. It sounds a bit awkward, but maybe that procedure fits into the "half a loaf is better than none" input category.
In the meantime, why don't you take a look at an alternative approach to be found at: http://www.futurebrief.com/polloffer.asp
Wouldn't it be great if CTW, or the AFL-CIO for that matter, would combine the two ideas, as well as others, in order to get a sense about what things most working folks want as well as their ideas about how we can best achieve achieve them?
